ERINVALE
SOMERSET WEST · CAPE WINELANDS
A course of two halves. The front nine plays through the parkland of the valley floor. The back nine climbs the mountain, hole by hole, and looks back down over everything you've already played.

ERINVALE
A Gary Player design, host of the 1996 World Cup
A Gary Player Signature Course, opened in 1995. Host of the 1996 World Cup of Golf and the 2003 and 2004 South African Opens — both won by Trevor Immelman, who grew up in Somerset West and played here as a fifteen-year-old alongside Player himself.
The front nine winds through the flatter part of the estate, with water in play and the Hottentots-Holland mountains as a backdrop. The back nine is the round people remember. It rises sharply behind the clubhouse into the foothills of the Helderberg, with the tenth tee looking down on everything, and the holes that follow opening out toward False Bay and the ocean beyond.
A celebrated quartet of par-threes, the longest of which plays just 155 metres. The wind comes off the mountains and through the valley unpredictably — which is to say the score on a still morning will not be the score on a still afternoon.
